Daily View for Cecilia

There is a lovely lady named Cecilia over at The Kitchens Garden. I read her blog every morning about life on her farmy. She has a magical way with words and so often she starts my day off with a smile. She suggested we post a view from our back porch and we could see a bit of the views from around the world. I am really pressed for time today, but I thought I would share my little view.  If you care to join in, make a post link back to my page here and we can enjoy getting to know each other a little more.

This was actually before we moved in, but it will give you a little perspective. Our home in the Fall.

You can see a bird feeder first. And my bench chair over the fire pit. Don’t worry. We just put it there for mowing the lawn. 🙂 Beyond that is our Quaking Aspen tree and a pile of brush we need to burn. You can’t see it, but we have made a little creek for the water that flows from the right side of the screen to the left and down into the bog. On the far right, just at the turn of the road we have the Red Pine Spring.

If I look along my porch here is what I see.

I always loved porches. The longer the better. 😀 I love ours. Here you can see our New Guinea Impatients in my hanging pots. You can also see my fake well that covers our real well. And just barely see the flower beds I have been working on through the rail. We planted the BEST strain of Hostas ever! They are from my mother in law and grow anywhere!

Here is a peep out my back door. It is actually just a sliding glass door to nothing. Someday we will have a deck, but here is what I can see.

Across to the trees you can see the squirrel gauntlet. It has gotten quite advanced. The squirrels still get up there sometimes, but with all the flowers etc, I don’t think they try as hard. 😉 To the left you can see our mini organic garden. We have planted peas, tomatoes, beans, garlic, rosemary, strawberries, asparagus, lilies, basil, blackberries and some squash. That is a lot for such a little space! You can also see my husbands rain barrels for watering the garden.  Off to the right is a path that goes through our 5 acres in the back. In the winter you can see past all of our land to the field behind. But now, with all the leaves, you can only see a few feet into the forest. If you look to the very farthest part, that is actually our septic field which used to be a goat pen. I am not allowed to have goats (LOL) so now we are trying to figure out what to keep there…other than poison ivy. yuck. If I had a porch out here I would be able to see our RV tucked just behind the garden.

I love our life on this dirt road. One of the most wonderful things is what you hear. Or don’t hear actually. If I go outside I hear frogs, birds, wind through the trees and… yeah. That is about all. It is so calm and peaceful. I love it.
